Commercial: Loop Examples
GeoExchange Commercial Loops
GeoExchange Loop provides the infrastructure for accessing and continually transferring thermal energy between the earth and the building. The ground loops come in closed and open loop configurations. Closed loop is a circuit of continuous under ground or submerged high density polyethylene piping installed in various configurations (vertical, horizontal or pond) depending on site characteristics. Open loop systems use existing water well or surface water. By using the natural, free energy of the Earth, GeoExchange systems provide substantial energy cost savings while reducing space requirements (no boiler or chiller) and preserving the buildings architectural design.
Water Source Loops
Water Source systems employ an internal building loop as the infrastructure which the heat pump accesses to capture or dissipate heat energy. As the building loop interconnects many individual spaces within a building, the system takes advantage of the diversified requirements of each space enabling heat energy from one space to be recovered and utilized elsewhere in the system. This recovery and utilization of excess heat for space conditioning or alternative uses makes these systems very efficient.
